Crud in tub

So does anyone have any great methods for cleaning all the hard water crud left behind in bathtubs? I've tried all sorts of cleaning products and scrubbing until my forearms ached, but it didn't do much more than remove a tiny portion of it. I'm tempted to try the pumice stone thing, but I'm worried it too won't work and I didn't want to if there were a better method. Any thoughts?

Have you tried CLR- I've only used it once, it seems pretty harsh, but it worked.

Oh- it also helps if you have a good scrub brush.

I have had good success with just plain old vinegar for hard water stains, on tubs and also on faucets, etc. Put white vinegar (or even apple cider vinegar if you don't have white) in a spray bottle, undiluted, and spray on the water spots and let it soak for a couple of minutes, then do some scrubbing and see if you get good results. On fixtures, dilute to one part vinegar per two parts water. It's worked for me, and at least it's cheap. I suppose you should test on a small area first to make sure it doesn't harm your surfaces.
